• I am an ex-Microsoft MVP. I spent 7 years as an MVP in Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, Zune, and Windows Phone before I left the program voluntarily in 2010.
• I am a former Windows Mobile Fanboy. Now I am a practicing Smartphone Agnostic. I can use and appreciate any major mobile OS. I am currently flip flopping between Android and Windows Phone 7.
• I work for AT&T. I am an Electronics Technician on the wireline side of the business. I have nothing to do with the mobility side of AT&T. I work on circuits, pots, muxes, and other boring telecommunications stuff. I do not represent AT&T in anyway. This includes this blog, GottaBeMobile, social media outlets, or in person. My thoughts are my own and do not necessarily mirror those of my employer.
• I am the former owner of Aximsite.com. I recently got the domain back and put a static site back online to honor the memories.
• I am also the former owner of Mobilitysite, iPaqHQ, DellDJsite, PSPsite, Tabletsite, GotZune, SECTalk, and several other successful communities.
• I consider myself to be a great community leader, at least in earlier online roles.
• Unlike the rest of the internet, I am not a social media expert.
• I am a husband and father to 2 awesome kids, one of which is a freshman at the University of Alabama.
• I am a huge football fan. I love the Atlanta Falcons and the University of Alabama Crimson Tide!
• I am a long time MMORPG geek but after a combined 10 years of Warcraft and Everquest, I have called it quits and do not currently play any MMORPG. I plan to keep it that way too.

Ok, the time has come to finally update this page with some real details after 4 years. As you can see below, I have only been updating this page with a string of “coming soon” updates. This was intentional. I kind of figure that you already know about me if you are here. I have a sense of humor. Well, I have decided it’s time to really do it this time. Read on for the boring details about myself. I am going to leave these updates up here for memories…

My Name is Chris Leckness. I live in Tuscaloosa Alabama, the town I grew up in. I was born in Okinowa Japan and came to Alabama in the 4th grade. I lived in Tuscaloosa until I joined the US Navy in 1990. I spent almost 9 years in the Navy and returned home to Tuscaloosa after I was done. I was an Electronics Tech in the Navy and still hold that title through the numerous jobs I have had since. I have worked for the University of Alabama, Bellsouth, Datum Corporation, and more. I even worked for a company that makes $250,000 Hydrogen Maser Atomic Clocks.

I am a geek at heart. The tagline of this blog for years was, “Incoherent ramblings from a redneck tech geek”. This still holds true, but I have moved past that label and acquired a few others. I started my geek life early with a Commodore Vic-20, then moved to the Commodore 64. At 18, I was in the Navy building computers for friends and neighbors while my 1st duty station, NAS Whidbey Island, had me repairing computers for the entire base. In my time in the Navy, I was tasked with many special projects that included setting up networks for organizations on base. Thanks to my Dad, I was warned that people in the “real world” that did what I did got paid well, but were becoming a dime a dozen. That was enough to have me shift focus away from PC support and into other areas. I began toying around with web design. I put my 1st website online in 1997, and bought my 1st dot com in 1998. I have always been a hobbyist webmaster and because of the success of Aximsite, I never found the time to really keep up with the industry. I have been mainly a content producer 1st, server admin 2nd, and webmaster 3rd. I have been described by peers as a serial webmaster. I lost that title when I realized that I couldn’t keep up with it all once they were all built.

Most of who might find this site know me because of who I am online. Online, I am the previous owner/managing editor of several websites. Aximsite is the site that brought me fame and fortune though. Well, not so much fortune, but some fame came with it all. Aximsite became Mobilitysite. I also used to own SECTalk.com, a Southeastern Sports forum.

Aximsite was created to help others learn with me when the Dell Axim Pocket PC was launched. The site went from 1 to 20k members in it’s 1st month. Before Dell pulled the plug, we were up to 1 million forum posts and 200k members. When Dell did exit the PPC game, my focus turned to smartphones and mobilitysite. Over the next 3-4 years, I slowly migrated all my other sites into Mobilitysite. That’s where we are today.

I recently resigned from the Microsoft MVP program but I was a Microsoft MVP, Windows Mobile and from 2004-2010. The MVP Award is a yearly award given out to hand selected individuals that help support and evangelize Microsoft products. I am also a member of a small group of mobile influencers called Mobius.

Currently, I am taking a break from writing, but what I write about is the mobile industry. I focus on device reviews, software reviews, commentary, and tutorials.

I live in Tuscaloosa with my wife (Bonnie), 16 year old daughter (Brittney), and 7 year old (Brett). We have an 18 year old Yorkie and a fat cat named Noonie.
