When you get started, you can take a photo to edit or pull one from your camera roll (or others on your device). You can store photos online at Photoshop.com as well, up to 2GB.

The 1st feature drop down allows for cropping, rotation, and flipping of the image. I chose to crop a photo I pulled from my camera roll. It’s a photo documenting another McDonald’s screw up. Go figure. :)

Here in the left screenshot, is the finished product of the crop job I did.  The next tab allows for some filters. I chose Black and White.

Here’s the finished black and white filter applied. Next up, I show you the sketch filter. One thing that is cool about the app is the tips on how to use the effects and filters.

Here are some random effects I created with the various filters.

More filters to check out. This one is tint. Each of the effects gives you an “X” or check mark to either apply or cancel the effect or filter.

Wrap Up

I have mixed feelings on this app. It’s a decent editor with a limited feature set, but I don’t like how it seems to really just be an advertisement to get you to go to Photoshop.com and sign up for an account. The only feature I would really use while on the iPhone, is cropping if I wanted to mask out something before sending it on to someone via email or MMS. The quality of the 3GS photos is decent, but I am probably going to shoot images with my SLR and edit them in the “Real Desktop” version of Photoshop.

It’s hard to argue with free though. Regardless of the limited features and there being several apps out there that are better than this, I plan to keep it on my phone for the cropping that I might have to do at some point. I won’t be signing up for a Photoshop.com account since I can save the images to my iPhone after modifying them.

Pros:

  • Free
  • Easy to use

Cons:

  • Very limited feature set
  • Limited to sharing online with Photoshop.com
