I have passed on the last few shows and with CTIA looming, I am itching to get out to a show. Why have I been skipping? Simple… I have decided to spend less vacation time doing shows and focus groups and saving it for “family vacations”. I was tired of getting towards the end of the calendar year and not have vacation left to talk off to go places with my wife and kids.
I will not be attending any shows this year at all. I will take one of my weeks to go to either Mobius of the Microsoft MVP summit. (skipped the last couple summits and really want to go this year).
In covering things, it’s good to go to these shows and learn about upcoming devices and technologies and establish relationships with vendors. I personally love going and meeting up with fellow webmasters and bloggers. That is really a good time. At the last MVP Summit, we took over an arcade and there were a bunch of us having a blast running around downtown Seattle.
Just missing going to the shows. Only way to change this problem is to quit working and do these websites for a living and that ain’t happening. I don’t even want that. I had the chance two years ago and I couldn’t see having the willpower to keep myself motivated enough to keep it up.
